  • Hand-picked your own fresh, plump, chemical-free blueberries?
  • Waded in a creek fed by freshwater springs?
  • Danced to live music at an authentic 200-acre farm?
  • Camped in the lush forests of middle Tennessee?

The weather was perfect for this festival!  We enjoyed shopping among vendors’ tents, tasting flavorful snow cones, sampling delicious Maine lobster from the “as seen on Shark Tank” food truck, dancing to a live band, playing exciting games, and tasting those fresh-picked, juicy blueberries!  Having missed the Bash last year, it was clear that the event had grown a lot, with several more vendors and more fun!

In fact, the farm itself has expanded over the past several years, and now offers “event space, cabin rentals, camping, and the most-beautiful you-pick blueberries in Middle Tennessee,” according to their website at DeannaNaddy.com (highlandrealm.net)*.  The best part of the “Blueberry Bash” this year, is that it begins the season for “you-pick!”  Our favorite activity has been the go-to experience since Dr. Deanna Naddy retired from nursing education to manage the farm in 2010, with some of the plumpest, freshest fruit you’ll ever taste!

Sure, the blueberries from the grocery store are “good,” but they are often only about half the size of the ones we just picked for ourselves.  These berries also have a lot more flavor!  Of course, they are much better, simply due to the fun of picking them yourself (while slipping a few “bites “samples” directly into your mouth), while emersed in peaceful serenity.

This was not our first visit to the Highland Realm Blueberry Farm, and it will not be our last!   What will we do next time that we have “not yet?”  Perhaps another Highland Berry Farm event:

Check their calendar here: EVENTS (highlandrealm.net)

Per the farm’s website, they also “offer classes on garden mulching, thermal composting, essential oils, sacred conversations, energy healing sound therapy, and more.”  Planning an ecotourism vacation to Tennessee? If so, this is an itinerary essential!
